Teluk Intan is also the capital of the district of Hilir Perak. Previously known as the Teluk Mak Intan after a renowned female Mandailing Trader, present day Teluk Intan held court for all Perak rulers until 1877 when the royal town of Kuala Kangsar was established.

This serene town is home to numerous colonial buildings, modern buildings, Chinese shophouses, shopping complexes, a modern cinema house and of course the famous Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan which hogs the spot for being the major tourist attraction of the city.

Carefully nestled into an oxbow of the river Perak, Teluk Intan is perfect for enjoying a quick tour and being a minor hub for transportation, passengers are left off in this town usually for changeovers.

Consisting of mainly quaint accommodations in the city centre, the town’s sparse inns will really overwhelm you with its warm sense of hospitality. Teluk Intan is very easy to access from the capital city of Kuala Lumpur by a well- connected airport shuttle specifically for international passengers. Alongside that, frequent buses depart to and from the clock tower to Kuala Lumpur’s Puduraya Station which is barely a 3 hour journey. Here are the major attractions of Teluk Intan for you to note :

THE LEANING TOWER OF TELUK INTAN, MALAYSIA: Built in the 1800s, the leaning tower of Teluk Intan is the most famous and renowned tourist attraction of this quaint town, which was either built as a memorial for a lost loved one, according to the residents of the city or as a water storage system, according to historians. Recently landing the tourism scene, this monument was built in the style of a Chinese Pagoda which allows its visitors to climb the tower top and experience a scenic overview of the city.

PALACE RUINS: The ruins of the Palace of Raja Muda in Jalan Sekolah are still under the Sultan’s care, which forbids daily tourists from exploring this fascinating historical site.

The world’s tallest twin structures, the Petronas Twin Towers, are LOCATED IN THE HEART OF THE CITY KUALA LUMPUR, majestic by day and dazzling at night. Cesar Pelli & Associates designed the 88-story buildings, which are Malaysia’s proudest icon and architectural wonder, and are lined with an endless shopping and touring experience.

Twin Towers of Petronas Standing 452 metres tall, it held the world-record title until 2004, when Taipei 101, measuring 508 metres tall, was built. The Burj Khalifa in Dubai (opened in 2010) is still the world’s tallest building.

About the twin tower

The Petronas Twin Towers, located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, are Islamic-inspired structures that house the Petronas Company’s corporate headquarters and other offices. As an internationally recognised landmark, the PETRONAS Twin Towers represent a nation’s courage, ingenuity, initiative, and determination, as well as its energy, confidence, optimism, advancement, and zest.

When the Petronas Twin Towers were completed in 1998, they were declared the world’s tallest buildings, surpassing the 442-metre-tall Willis Tower in Chicago, United States of America. Suria KLCC, an upmarket shopping mall popular with tourists, is located at the foot of the Petronas Twin Towers.

Petronas, Malaysia’s state oil company, and its subsidiaries and associate companies have taken up all of Tower One. Multinational corporations such as Accenture, Al-Jazeera, Barclays Capital, Bloomberg, Boeing, IBM, McKinsey & Co., Microsoft, Reuters, and others occupy Tower Two. From start to finish, the project took 7 years.

View from twin tower

The Petronas Twin Towers’ observation deck is located on Level 86 and offers visitors a close-up view of the tower’s spire as well as digital displays and exhibits about the tower’s history.

One of the Petronas Twin Towers’ main draws is the double-decked Skybridge, which offers spectacular views of the city. The Twin Towers are unmistakable. As long as you are in Kuala Lumpur, you will see the magnificent building standing tall in the heart of Malaysia’s busiest and brightest city.

The Skybridge has two functions: it can serve as an emergency exit route and it provides a path from tower one to tower two.

How to reach the Twin tower

A train ride in Malaysia, which is known for its well-developed metro networks and low ticket prices, is one of the quickest ways to get to the twin towers.

Opening Hours: 09:00 – 19:00 (closed for Friday prayers 13:00 – 14:30)

Location: Near Concorde Hotel Monorail stop, in between Jalan Ampang and Jalan Raja Chulan
